2008 Compensation Survey Announcement

You are invited to participate in the Central New York SHRM 2008 Compensation and Benefits Survey between May 22 and June 22nd. The survey will provide you with current information on pay rates, benefits and incentive compensation practices of employers in Central New York.

Survey data is an invaluable tool for attracting and retaining employees in addition to helping you assure market competitiveness. Esther Renne, Human Resources Generalist of AAA Western and Central New York had this to say about last year’s survey, “Our organization used the data from the local CNY SHRM compensation survey to convince management to adjust starting pay rates in our call center to better align with our local competition. This adjustment has benefited overall by increasing our qualified applicant pool and lowering our attrition rate.”

The survey is web-based and you will be able to access your last year’s compensation inputs. In addition, you will also be able to print the survey questionnaire before you get started. Participants will be charged a nominal fee of $25.00 ($195.00 for non participants) to receive results. To ensure confidentiality, only aggregate data will be reported.

Job categories include: administration/clerical, banking, engineering, finance, healthcare, human resources, information technology, maintenance, non profit, operations (manufacturing), retail and sales/marketing.

Employer of Distinction Awards

CNY SHRM is pleased to announce the 2008 Central New York Employer of Distinction Awards! The application has a new look for 2008. It focuses on SHRM's core areas, and employers are encouraged to apply for a Best Practice Award in a core area or apply for the Overall Employer of Distinction Award. The application itself is simplified - it now has a few pointed questions in each Section, as well as corresponding formulas for supporting information. As in the past, CNY SHRM is partnering with United Way/Success By 6 and recognizing a company for best practices in family workplace policies with the Donlon Award. Due to feedback from our membership. Please start the application process with your company and contact Michelle Tracy (315-471-1000) or Steve Tarolli (315-682-6180) if you have any questions. Please remember, both the Word and Excel documents must be completed if you are interested in applying for the Employer of Distinction Awards. The luncheon event will be held at the University Sheraton on October 16, 2008. We invite all CNY companies to apply!
