2009 Compensation Survey

CNY SHRM Receives 2008 Superior Merit Award

Congratulations to CNY SHRM for receiving the 2008 Superior Merit Award. This award recognizes excellence in chapter operations and commitment to providing meaningful programs and services to our members. By achieving this award, our chapter distinguishes itself as an outstanding organization dedicated to the professional advancement of our members and the advancement of the human resource management profession. Employer of Distinction Awards Announced

Byrne Dairy has won the 2008 Donlon Award for its family-friendly workplace policies from United Way Success by Six. The award was one of several given out Thursday at the CNY Employer of Distinction event.

The awards recognize local companies that exhibit exemplary human resources policies. The event was sponsored by the Central New York Chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management, Success by Six and the Manufacturers Association of Central New York.

Liberty Resources received an overall excellence in human resources award in the large company category and a best practice award for compensation and benefits. The Syracuse company, which provides a variety of human services, last won an overall award in 2004.

Also winning overall human resources excellence awards were: Crouse Hospital in the giant company division and Pomco Group, an Eastwood company that manages medical, dental and vision benefits for self-funded insurance plans, in the medium-sized company division. No awards were given to small companies.

DeWitt engineering company O'Brien & Gere won a best practice award for diversity. The best practice award for technology went to SUNY Upstate Medical University; the best practice award for staffing went to Hematology/Oncology Associates of Central New York, a large private cancer medical practice headquartered in DeWitt. Alarm monitoring company Rapid Response Monitoring Services, in Syracuse, received the best practice award for workplace law and work environment.

Over 125 individuals joined us for an exciting event led by keynote speaker Bob Nelson. The event focused on developing a culture of engagement, and now you can download some wonderful information from Bob Nelson. This 27-page document walks you through some of the steps you can use in your own organization - steps designed to build a culture of engagement. Additionally, you will find some of Bob Nelson's own research and statistics as to what motivates employees and how employees are best engaged in the workplace.

2008 Compensation Survey Results

Survey results will be available to interested parties via the web with a password to be provided after August 11.

The survey is web-based and you will be able to access your last year’s compensation inputs. In addition, you will also be able to print the survey questionnaire before you get started. Participants will be charged a nominal fee of $25.00 ($195.00 for non participants) to receive results. To ensure confidentiality, only aggregate data will be reported.

Job categories include: administration/clerical, banking, engineering, finance, healthcare, human resources, information technology, maintenance, non profit, operations (manufacturing), retail and sales/marketing.

For survey participants, there will be a special survey debriefing session in on August 20th led by compensation and benefits expert Jennifer Loftus, Principal from Astron Solutions (our survey provider). The session will be free for all participants and will include a continental breakfast. In addition, there will be a drawing for the raffle prizes available to participants.
