Legal Recruiter

Bond, Schoeneck & King, PLLC, a law firm of 250 attorneys with offices across New York State, is accepting applications for a full-time Legal Recruiter in our Syracuse, NY office location. The ideal candidate will have the ability to handle all phases of the Firm’s attorney and professional staff recruitment. 

Position Responsibilities

  • Identify and implement efficient and effective recruiting methods and strategies based on the available role, industry standards, and the needs of the Firm
  • Responsible for law school outreach and developing engagement initiatives in line with Firm priorities; provide on-site assistance at law schools for on-campus interviewing and events as needed
  • Research and identify sources for placement of job postings, including bar associations and appropriate sites
  • Coordinate lateral attorney recruiting efforts with Firm leaders including Department Heads, Practice Group Leaders and Office Managing Members
  • Stay current on law firm hiring trends and data both nationally and regionally and provide Firm management with independent analysis regarding impact of trends on office recruitment in New York, Kansas and Florida
  • Coordinate annual Associate review process under the direction of the Chair of the Associate Committee
  • Support the Associate Committee Chair and Attorney Professional Development & Diversity Officer with training for new associates and summer law clerks
  • Conduct and analyze market research regarding legal recruiting trends and prepare and submit findings on behalf of the Firm statistics for NALP, attorney salary surveys, internal presentations, etc.
  • Manage the Firm’s response to the NALP Foundation annual attrition survey and other industry surveys as determined by Firm management, which will include tracking and maintaining attorney exit interviews
  • Responsible for responding to industry diversity surveys such as the ABA Model Diversity Survey with review by the Attorney Professional Development & Diversity Officer
  • Interface with search firms including the drafting of search firm agreements and assist with the lateral attorney offer process including creating offer letters

Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred with special consideration for a focus on Human Resources and/or Business Administration
  • 5 years’ experience in all phases of the recruiting and hiring process, preferable in a law firm, placement agency or law school setting
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Must be detail orientated and able to multi-task
