The EE team includes HR Analytics, Workforce Wellbeing, and Talent Retention. HR Analytics administers ongoing lifecycle experience surveys, analyzes data, and creates KPI dashboards. Workforce Wellbeing provides programming and support to address Cornell’s evolving employee and retiree personal and family wellbeing needs. Talent Retention develops retention-focused manager resources and tools, and programming, activities and events to connect employees to one another, the community, and Cornell’s shared purpose. Talent Retention also focuses on driving internal talent engagement, development, and movement, and has just added a new function focused on supporting Cornell’s remote workforce.

The Remote Talent Senior Consultant will be the newest addition to Talent Retention and Engagement and reports to the Senior Director of Employee Experience.

The Opportunity

As the Remote Talent Senior Consultant, you will be an integral part of building the new function by setting the strategic priorities for the university-wide remote talent framework, including elements of out-of-state compliance and support, university policy and practice, community education in support of remote working, and remote workforce engagement and retention. You will build strong relationships and act as a trusted advisor to college and unit Human Resource Business Partners and other key partners as they navigate increasingly remote workforces. As the HR lead between campus and outside experts in employment law, tax, benefits, payroll, and risk management and the HR Community, you will create a systematic and collaborative approach to supporting a remote workforce. You will also serve as the employee voice for the remote worker by continuously monitoring the remote worker experience and partnering with other HR specialists to recommend and co-design approaches to create an engaging and equitable experience for the remote workforce.

This position offers a very flexible hybrid remote work schedule and will consider fully remote as well. This position is physically located in Ithaca, New York. The New York Convenience of Employer Guidelines requires New York State individual tax reporting and withholdings for this position.  Additional individual state income tax filings may be required if working outside of New York State.

Candidate Profile

Qualified candidates will hold a Bachelor’s degree and at least five years of senior experience providing guidance on federal and state employment laws, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Additionally, we seek candidates who will have the following experiences, knowledge, skills and abilities:

  • Experience providing HR services to a remote workforce, or to employees in multiple work locations
  • A track record for providing trusted advisement and consultation to leaders, managers and other HR professionals
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • A skilled relationship builder and collaborator
  • Enjoys being a builder and facilitator
  • Is creative, practical, and solution-oriented
  • Prior project and/or program management experience
  • Comfortable with using data to track progress and inform decision making

The starting pay range for this position is $93,161 to $100,000, based on education and experience.
