VP Human Resources

PAR TECHNOLOGY CORPORATION has an opportunity available for a VP, Human Resources to join its Corporate Human Resources Department located in the New Hartford, NY headquarters. PAR is the parent Company for two wholly owned business units. PAR's government subsidiary has been a leader in providing cutting edge computer-based system design as well as providing engineering and IT outsourcing services to the Department of Defense and Federal Government agencies.

Under the general direction of the CEO, the VP will develop Human Resources policies and programs for the Company in the areas of organizational planning, organizational development, employment, indoctrination and training, employee relations, compensation, benefits, safety and health, and employee services.  Additionally, the VP will develop and implement Human Resources practices, policies and objectives that ensure consistent treatment of all Company employees and regularly advise senior management on Human Resources issues that affect the achievement of business objectives.

 

Responsibilities

  • Formulates and recommends Human Resources policies and objectives for the entire Company. Coordinates the activities, programs and strategic Human Resources plans of other human resources departments throughout the Company.
  • Participates in the development of the Companies plans and programs as a strategic partner particularly from the perspective of the impact on employees.
  • Determines and recommends employee relations practices necessary to establish a positive employer-employee relationship and promote a high level of employee morale.
  • Develops talent acquisition strategies to identify talent within and outside the Company. Reviews variances to schedules. Interviews executive-level candidates.
  • Identifies legal requirements and government reporting regulations affecting Human Resources function (e.g., AA, OSHA, EEO, ERISA). Monitors exposure of the Company. Directs the preparation of information requested or required for compliance.
  • Protects interests of employees and the Company in accordance with Company Human Resources policies and governmental laws and regulations. Approves recommendations for terminations. Reviews employee appeals through complaint procedure.
  • Directs a process of organizational planning that evaluates structure, job design, and manpower forecasting throughout the Company. Coordinates activities across division lines. Evaluates plans and changes to plans. Makes recommendations to senior management.
  • Establishes wage and salary structure, pay policies, performance appraisal programs, employee benefit programs and services, and Company safety and health programs. Monitors for effectiveness and cost containments.
  • Develops progressive compensation programs designed to provide motivation, incentives and rewards for effective employee performance.
  • Develops executive compensation programs under the direction of the Compensation Committee of the Board of Directors.
  • Establishes in-house management training programs that address Company needs across division lines (e.g., MBO, Performance Appraisals).
  • Selects and coordinates use of Human Resources consultants, insurance brokers, insurance carriers, pension administrators, training specialists, labor counsel, and other outside sources.
  • Continually studies Human Resources policies, programs, and practices to keep top management informed of new developments.
  • Prepares periodic reports to top management, as necessary or requested.
  • Ensures senior management is informed of significant problems that jeopardize the achievement of objectives and those which are not being addressed adequately at the line management level.

 

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Human Resources. Specialized training in organizational planning, compensation, and labor relations.  Masters Degree preferred.
  • Energetic, forward thinking and creative individual who relates well with employees at all levels of the organization and possesses excellent communication skills. Generalist background with broad knowledge of employment, compensation, organizational planning, employee relations, and training and development. Strong leadership skills with high ethical standards. Experienced working with more than two divisions.
  • Fifteen (15) years' experience gained through increasingly responsible management positions within Human Resources.
  • A minimum of three (3) years' recent experience as Human Resources Executive.
