HUMAN RESOURCES GENERALIST OPENING

Position Summary: Primary function of this position includes implementation and coordination of policies and programs, covering a wide variety of employment, compensation, benefits, training, safety and health topics. Responsibilities have emphasis on employee and labor relations.

Essential Functions:
Employee and Labor Relations

  • Participates with the zone HR manager in investigating and processing employee complaints, Hotline calls, and gathering information on claims or charges of discrimination.
  • Demonstrates strong facilitation skills in investigating, analyzing, and solving a myriad of complex employee relation issues.
  • Provides guidance to divisional managers and supervisors on a wide variety of employee relation’s issues.
  • Provides advice and counsel to divisional managers and supervisors regarding personnel practices, and company policy.

Employee Support

  • Partners with Corporate benefits department to assist employees with benefits questions.
  • Establishes and maintains information systems that include all employee records and files, automated systems, and personnel and staffing reports.
  • Provides information and is responsible for approval of all company and government regulated leaves of absence.
  • Updates employee HRIS system for leaves of absence.
  • Communicates and administers various human resources plans and procedures for all employees.

Recruiting, Orientation, and Retention

  • Conducts exit interviews and provides management feedback regarding divisional culture and employee relations issues.
  • Conducts monthly in-service for the managers.
  • Works closely with Management team and Scheduling Manager to assist with hiring requirements.
  • Assesses program site recruitment needs and develop an action plan.
  • Contacts community organizations, schools, and outreach programs.
  • Attends local job fairs to ensure a continuous applicant flow.
  • Coordinates all recruitment advertisement.
  • Screens candidate resumes and applications.
  • Conducts interviews by phone and in person.
  • Creates offer letters and denial letters.
  • Understands and explains the company mission, culture, policies and procedures.
  • Offers hiring recommendation to managers. Responsible for contracts with outside staffing agencies and recruiting vendors.
  • Recruitment trend analysis.

Performance Management and Compensation Review

  • Ensures evaluations are completed in a timely fashion for all management and field personnel throughout the division.
  • Maintains contract compliance for all union pay increases and review cycles within assigned division.
  • Reviews and drafts performance improvement plans for divisional supervisors that are not meeting performance expectations.
  • Ensures all divisional union and non-union merit increases fall within contract and company pay guidelines.
  • Reviews all divisional promotion and demotions accurately adjusting pay per the company guidelines.
  • Reviews all management level terminations prior to separation(zone manager).
  • Works with assigned division to execute company specific, measureable, accepted, realistic, and time bound performance objectives.
  • Execution, review, and measurement of divisional goals/ corporate defined HR metrics, and KPIs within the assigned division.

Government and Company Compliance

  • Responsible for maintaining and updating employee personnel, training and medical files.
  • Compiles monthly reports measuring unemployment, worker compensation, and leave of absence towards divisional goals.
  • Execution of divisional CIA, OSHA, and other company, state, and federal specific training/requirements.
  • Updates and ensures certification controls are in place in assigned division so that no employee is working without the required certification for their position.
  • Responsible for the completion of the assigned division government compliance binder and tracking progress towards placement goals(generalist/manager).
  • Management of Workers Compensation program and Motor Vehicle Collision ensuring Risk Management and Corporate HR receives all necessary information in a timely manner.
  • Prepares company responses to, attends and serves as company representative for unemployment hearings.

Organizational Development and Training

  • Partners with the zone HR manager in conducting divisional succession planning meetings.
  • Tracks divisional management staff’s completion of company standard position based training.
  • Executes and tracks training of all corporate programs and policies.
  • Coordinates and conducts monthly in-service for management and personnel. Compliance
  • Complies and enforces all policies and procedures.
  • Ensures and inspects paperwork for accuracy and compliance.
  • Responsible for escalating concerns regarding questionable paperwork to appropriate management.
  • Has successfully completed all required Compliance Training within the required time period.
  • Has had no compliance related corrective action during the current review period.

Qualifications

  • BA or BS in Human Resources Management or similar field of study preferred
  • PHR certification preferred
  • Minimum of 3 years of Human Resources experience, with a focus on Employee
  • Relations/Labor Relations preferred
  • Experience in healthcare related industry preferred
  • Union experience required specific to location
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of Human Resources Management and supervision, union experience specific to location
  • Ability to prepare written reports and correspondences
  • Applicable knowledge of applicable state and federal employment laws, labor laws, governmental compliance requirements, and immigration laws
  • Ability to build and maintain positive relationships internally and externally
  • Travel requirement specific to divisional assignment
