Lilly Ledbetter - For 10 years Lilly Ledbetter fought to close the gap between women’s and men’s wages, sparring with the Supreme Court, lobbying Capitol Hill in an historic discrimination case against Goodyear. Although Ledbetter lost the case on appeal (a decision upheld by the United States Supreme Court), the experience led her to become a spokesperson for equal rights in the workplace. Lilly Ledbetter’s story inspired President Obama to sign the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Restoration Act as his first act in office. In 2011, Lilly Ledbetter was inducted into the National Women’s Hall of Fame.
