Job Title:            Manager, Defined Benefit Administration & Outsourcing

General Function:

This position is responsible for the current defined benefit outsourcing engagements as the point of contact, while developing and enhancing the offering for marketing to existing clients.

Essential Duties:

  • Manages relationships with clients to ensure delivery of effective and efficient outsourcing service.
  • Serves as a point of contact on development of client specific technical solutions such as data feeds participant call center, benefit distribution processing and other technical considerations of the client.
  • Work directly with plan participants and address any pension related questions directly.  
  • Interact with client service team members who provide internal technical support.
  • Interpretation of plan documents to ensure plan compliance and proper preparation of calculations.
  • Preparation of benefit calculations as well as related participant correspondence, for review by actuarial pension consultant.
  • Participation in new client implementations onto the pension administration and recordkeeping software (licensed from outside vendor).
  • Manage system testing for plan modifications and new plan implementations.
  • Identify process improvements related to the development of the outsourcing service offering as well as future and current client needs.
  • Keeps up-to-date with current legislative topics and its application to existing client defined benefit plans.

Coordinate the development of new benefit outsourcing business with target organizations of large clients (1000 + lives) – existing consulting client base and other organizations.

Basic Qualifications:

Education/
Training:
Bachelors degree or higher in a related field, CEBS and PHR certifications preferred.
 

Competencies:    

  • Knowledge of applicable ERISA, PPA, DOL and IRS regulations for Defined Benefit Pension Plans
  • Familiarity with relational databases and exposure to defined benefit administration systems
  • Read and comprehend plan provisions from defined benefit plan documents, summaries of plan provisions, and other related plan materials
  • Display a high level of customer service
  • Well-developed written and oral communication skills
  • Highly developed presentation skills
  • Ability to analyze problems and recommend solutions 
  • Strong analytical and mathematical skills and highly detail oriented
  • Display a high degree of competency with Microsoft Word and Excel, as well as personal computer skills
Experience:
7 to 10 years with a working knowledge of the following benefits areas: Defined Benefit administration, and Benefits Consulting.  Prior experience in a defined benefit outsourcing environment.
