Legislative Update

Join us for an update on HR issues that have been front and center during the 2013 NYS legislative session in Albany.
 
This briefing on HR legislative issues will cover legislative fundamentals, HR-related legislative results from the 2012 session and returning and new HR issues encountered during the current 2013 session including some regulatory focus. You’ll also hear about HR grassroots advocacy efforts around the state during 2013.

Tom Minnick, As Director, Center for Human Resources at The Business Council of New York State, Inc., Tom provides state and federal labor and human resource information to members through The HR Line, the Council's 800 telephone service. He also coordinates the activities of The Business Council’s Labor & Human Resources, Construction and Transportation Committees and lobbies the New York State Legislature and Governor’s office on HR & worker, construction and transportation issues important to New York’s business community and HR Professionals.
Tom is a native of Long Island, joining The Business Council Of New York State, Inc. in 1997 with over twenty-five years experience as an HR Manager and Director. He received his bachelor's degree from Niagara University and an MBA from Sage Graduate School in Albany. Tom holds an SPHR (Senior Professional in Human Resources) designation from the HR Certification Institute.

He is a national member of The Society for Human Resource Management and a past member of its National Legislative Committee as well as a past president and board member of the Capital Region Human Resource Association, a Trustee of the Albany Community Charter School and a member of the Business Advisory Committees for the Early Care & Learning Council and Mildred Elley school.
