Human Resources Internship Program

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager for the New York Central Region, the HR Intern will have the following responsibilities:

  • Training: Manage, coordinate and monitor of local training initiatives and programs in NYC Region such as Defensive Driving and CPR training, OSHA training, tuition reimbursement programs, mandatory regulatory trainings as well as professional certifications. This also includes monitor and tracking of training expense.
  • Internal Recruitment and New Hire process: HR Intern will assist HR Manager with internal recruitment system, posting and monitoring of internal positions, and will ensure accuracy of data entry for New Hires as well as play a key role in New Hire process. This will require strong partnership with different groups in the Regional Office and Corporate HR Team.
  • Ad Hoc Tasks: Assist in creating offer letters, Policy & Procedures reviews, assisting during Performance Rating & Performance evaluations processes, year-end compensation reviews, etc.

Qualifications
Although previous experience in Human Resources will be a plus, no previous experience is required; however, MS Office skills are required for this position. Requirements:

  • Be currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program relevant to Human Resources Management/Labor Relations etc.
  • Must have critical thinking skills and be creative.  
  • Strong Computer Skills. Previous experience handling complex databases is a PLUS.
  • Strong Interpersonal skills
  • Sound Judgment and ability to handle confidential/very sensitive information.
  • Attention to detail and quick learner.


Additional Information:

  • Location: Central New York Region- Syracuse, Liverpool and surrounding projects
  • Position Start Date: Early February or Early August
  • Duration: Spring or Fall Semester- 15 to 20 hours per week
  • Work Type: Paid Hourly Internship
