Human Resources Coordinator - Catholic Charities of Onondaga County

The Human Resources department of Catholic Charities of Onondaga County (CCOC) has a 35 hour per week Full Time opportunity for a team-oriented, driven individual to support the HR team in delivering seamless, quality employee focused services. The Human Resources Coordinator provides administrative and functional support to the Human Resources department and assists employees with employment related questions in a timely, professional and courteous manner.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

The Human Resources Coordinator provides administrative and functional support to the Human Resources department and assists employees with employment related questions in a timely, professional and courteous manner. 

  1. Function as the first point of contact, and respond to employee inquiries in a timely, professional and courteous manner, referring employees to other human resources staff for inquiries that fall outside the scope and knowledge of the positions.
  2. Function as the volunteer liaison, which includes responding to volunteer inquires, orientation registration, database maintenance and placement coordination.
  3. Conduct new employee orientation, which includes educating new employees about Catholic Charities culture, policies, corporate compliance standards, and code of conduct.
  4. Input new hire and employee changes into the employee database and accurately maintain and update the employee database and employee personnel files.
  5. Provide administration and coordination for the training function, including but not limited to, training communication, registration, set up, and tracking.
  6. Coordinate and prepare materials for the efficient operation of the Human Resources function including but not limited to hiring, employee orientation, trainings, benefits, recruitment and recognition events.
  7. Assist employees with the accurate completion of required paperwork such as I-9's, benefit enrollment, tax with holding and direct deposit changes on a regular basis.
  8. Process payroll changes.
  9. Prepare correspondence, reports, and materials as required and directed.
  10. 10. Maintain confidentiality of Human Resources Department and all information received.

A High school diploma or equivalent is required, Associates Degree, in Business or related field is preferred. One to three (1-3) years of relevant experience in Human Resources or related field is required or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses/Certificate/Clearances: Valid NYS Driver's license, NYS Child Abuse Registry clearance.

Skills/Abilities: Proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel and other Microsoft Office software preferred; creative problem solving, negotiation skills and knowledge of ADP payroll and human resources software preferred. Mobility sufficient to drive to and participate in meetings and/or run errands to assist in the coordination of HR events at community facilities which may not meet Federal accessibility standards for disabled individuals.
