Legal Updates: What Employers Need to Know for 2023

Presented by: Theresa E. Rusnak

As we begin 2023, it is important for employers to be up-to-date on the latest state and federal laws and regulations. This program will discuss new laws that will impact New York employers, such as: changes in how employers must accommodate breastfeeding employees, electronic posting requirements, the continuation of COVID-19 leave and vaccination leave, upcoming pay transparency requirements, and more.

Theresa E. Rusnak

Theresa is a labor and employment adviser representing employers across New York State. She values her relationships with clients, and uses her experience to enable employers to meet their business goals, while also crafting solutions to avoid potential legal problems.

Theresa works with employers of various sizes to help meet their legal needs, and has represented employers in federal and state court lawsuits, as well as before administrative agencies such as the Division of Human Rights, the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, the Occupational Health and Safety Administration and the National Labor Relations Board.

In addition to her representation of clients in lawsuits and administrative complaints, Theresa also enjoys working with employers on preventative legal compliance. In this area, she routinely drafts employee handbooks, employment agreements and restrictive covenant agreements. She also provides advice on a variety of state and federal employment laws, such as the New York Human Rights Law, New York Paid Sick Leave, New York Paid Family Leave, Title VII, the Equal Pay Act, the Family and Medical Leave Act and the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Act.
