Mindfulness In the Workplace: How Living in the Moment Can Be Your Corporate Superpower

Mindfulness can save your company money and resources, and help to create a happier, healthier, and more content team. According to The American Institute of Stress, 83% of US workers suffer from work-related stress and US businesses lose up to $300 billion yearly as a result of workplace stress. But only 43% of US employees think their employers care about their work-life balance. And entrepreneurs are no stranger to work-related mental health struggles. During a study from the University of California, 49% of entrepreneurs reported dealing with mental health issues directly, while 32% of others experience them indirectly.

Everyone experiences stress—it is part of our common humanity. It’s when that stress becomes chronic and detrimental to our physical and mental well-being that health problems occur. Mindfulness involves being consciously present in the moment and the task you are completing right now. Becoming more mindful helps to build inner strength, so that our reaction to our everyday stressors no longer impacts us in a destructive way.

But how can you take mindfulness from an ethereal concept into practical application in the workplace? How can you incorporate more stress-reducing practices into your workday and create a value-driven corporate culture based on work-life harmony?

In this workshop, I will discuss:

  • Navigating stress and anxiety in a multi-tasking world;
  • Core mindfulness practices that can be practiced anytime and anywhere;
  • How incorporating bite-sized everyday mindfulness habits into your routine will help train your brain to move into a calmer state quickly and with more ease;
  • Adopting a growth mindset and becoming open to new possibilities; and
  • Accepting the present moment for what it is.

This workshop will include activities and exercises to help participants understand how to apply mindfulness to their work and personal life.

Presented by Renee Hagar-Smith - Mindfulness-Based Wellness Coach

Renee Hagar-Smith is trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR), Mindful Self-Compassion (MSC), Reiki, Divine Sleep® Yoga Nidra, yoga-based mindfulness, breathwork, and meditation, and is a suicide loss survivor who used mindfulness to help facilitate her own healing journey. As a mindfulness-based wellness coach, Renee offers one-on-one coaching and group coaching, as well as being a speaker, workshop facilitator, and writer. She resides in Central New York with her teenage son and an adorable fluffy white dog, who is her constant companion and, surprisingly enough, is also attuned to Reiki.
